CUTE: Diagram Reference Naming
« on: October 24, 2006, 05:04:05 am »
Here is a cute aspect of EA's UI (Unique Interface)...

If you drag a diagram onto another diagram as a Diagram Reference, the instance property window is opened.

Instead of seeing the current name of the base diagram as the default name for the instance, you see an empty name.

If you press OK, you get an empty name reference preceded by the diagram type.  So you have to re-enter the diagram name by hand...  To paraphrase a local Aussie advertisement - "Not happy Jan..."

However, if you hit Cancel instead of OK when you see the empty name in the properties window, EA miraculously creates the name of the base diagram onto the reference...

Go figure...

Enjoy,
Paolo

I didn't know about this. I used to rewrite it all time.
And I agree with Paolo, of course.
