rtf generation - tabs to spaces?

When I use tabs inside my documentation (in a note), they are converted into spaces. Is there an option that tabs remain tabs?

My generated documentation looks like @$#@ when using tabs.
Is there a way to get the tabs used in the editor to be tabs in the rtf?

Today I don't feel not proud of my job (mainly because my documentation is of a minor quality).
