Logging improvement - Import EMX files
« on: March 06, 2009, 10:07:11 am »
Hello,

during import of EMX files EA generates log file. The messages in the log file are too generic.
I'm missing some identification of objects where the problems occured (name form EXM file, GUID,...). I current situation I saw that there was a problem, but I cannot fix the problem in RSM, because I don't know UML object.

If there is an exception during import into DBMS repository caused be DB engine (e.g. name is longer as size defined in DB table - name will be truncated), in log file is no info (in some cases exception is dumped), but I do not have any information about faild UML element.
Therefore is not possible to correct the problem after import.

Regards
Marian

Same with XMI import. Sometimes the log file has a lot of lines like "Error: Unknown Transition Source or Target", but without any hint as to which elements are concerned.

Still having the same issue with EA v12 importing XMI files!

Dear Sparx-Team, any chance to improve this logging and make it a bit more verbose in the next release?
