API Bug: Hover help over items in the Toolbox
« on: April 23, 2007, 11:17:14 pm »
Hi

When you hover on one element of the UML toolbox on the left, you get the this yellow strip with a one-line help, like for most elements of Windows. (for example, a class has as help "Class: Structural Elements for class diagrams")

But this help strip is not updated if you move your mouse over another element of the toolbox. Try it with the icons of the toolbar on the top, below the menu, it does there.
You have to move your cursor out of the toolbox and enter it again.

It's an annoying bug, since it makes it painful to go through the help of every UML element of a category .

It's not a bug, it's simply that the tool tip refers to the whole toolbox page, not individual member items. You'll be pleased to hear that EA 7 will introduce individual tool tips.

Oups, you are right, I tried with Class which is both a category and an element.
Sorry.

It's definitely good news that the next version will include tooltips for all elements!

Thanks for the quick feedback.

Can anyone confirm whether this feature is currently available?

Hi,

Seems to be true for the lower toolbox compartments containing the available associations and common elements.
Not for the top level toolbox as far I can see.
EA 7.5 (849)

Unfortunately it looks like it didn't make the cut.

Not quite the same thing. If you have labels hidden in the toolbox page, mouse over will display the label as a tool tip.
