Active Directory / LDAP integration
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:35:44 pm »
Integrating the product with AD would allow users to log directly into the application without worrying about licenses or passwords.  The system could see who the currently logged in user is, check whether they're in an "Enterprise Architect Users" group in AD, then check to see if there are unused licenses (if floating) or assigned licenses (if named user) which can be allocated to this account.  The user, so long as they have access, then doesn't need to be aware of what's going on in the background, and administration is simply a matter of assigning a username to each license, or adding each authorised user to an AD group.

This would be great if it would allow Linux users to use an LDAP directory to do floating licenses rather than the current "shared directory" approach which does NOT work under Wine.

+1 as well. All tools we have in our company (with a server part as EA Cloud) use currently our corporate LDAP, with the exception of Enterprise Architect (with its EA Cloud Server).

Plenty of products have LDAP integration and allow AD as one option.
