Diagram Filter - SQL/tagged values please
« on: September 27, 2011, 09:54:14 am »
I'm finding the diagram filters unfortunatley restrictive.
I'd like to request that I can filter on tagged value - or even better add the ability to filter using sql.
... even better - be able to re-use the model view - a single query can filter a model, or, when used in the scope of a diagram, those items on the diagram.

I have the same/similar needs.

More advanced diagrams would be fantastic as it allows you to present to an audience and quickly show different concerns in a visual manner.  I'd also like to be able to filter which components based on their participation in specific diagrams (activity, sequence, etc).  This allows me to take a large complex component diagram and show what a specific process affects.

I'd also like to filter based on connectors.

I agree that filter on tagged values would be great. We are modelling similar but slightly different products and visual filtering looks at a first glance as a perfect way to handle this and avoid duplication of diagrams. With some adjustments, I think really visual filtering could be a silver bullet.

Some additions I would highly appreciate:

- Express both what to show and what to hide.
- Express how multiple filters should be applied (and/or between filter expressions)
- Enable a COM interface to filtering so it is possible to automate applying filters.

It would be great if the Element Filters in "Project | Documentation | RTF report..." would work !  Looks like a bug to me.  I can get View | Diagram Filters to work though.

I support the suggestion to be able to define model-wide filters.
