Role based security on HTML-reports/Model-Reposit
« on: May 19, 2015, 04:42:18 pm »
Hi community,

I would like to ask if there is a way to connect an AD with Sparx, in Order to give several Groups different reading rights.
I know one can use a model repository(e.g. on a MySQL-Server) for bigger teams and a role based security, so that not all team members have access to all models. But as far as I get this function right, it is not exactly what I am looking for:

We would like to have a small modelling team with access to all models. The team is responsible for designing an Enterprise Architecture (EA) and all process, application, and technology layer-models for each department in the organization. They should be able to generate one big model (e.g. Mind map, EA overview) where one can drill down for a more detailed version and a description (e.g. as in the HTML-Report). The co-workers from the department should have access (read only) to their corresponding/relevant models. We thought of this, because we want to give a better process understanding within the teams especially for new team members.

Is there a way to implement such a case?

Thanks in advance!

There's no option for restricting read rights within a model. The only option is to split the model into different repositories based desired access.

Dear Simon_M,

thanks for your reply. Sure there is no access control in one model, but can't I  restrict linked models for different persons?

I have found something like an addon from lieberlieber called "web collaborator" or "EnArWeb" that looks similar to what I am looking for.
http://www.lieberlieber.com/en/web-collaborator-for-enterprise-architect/
But I wanted to know if there is no such functionality already integrated in sparx.

Re: "The co-workers from the department should have access (read only) to their corresponding/relevant models." ...

Are you aware that there is a readonly version of EA available at: http://www.sparxsystems.com/bin/EALite.exe

This is actually free (i.e. no license needed), and presents the information exactly as you see it in full EA i.e. better than the HTML version.
