View notes, legends in project browser
« on: June 30, 2015, 12:24:28 am »
Hi, Is there in EA any option that allows you to track all the notes and legend in the project browser. It s not very practical sometimes to view it in the diagram as "list view".

You can likely write a SQL search for this with not too much effort.

In answer to your question. No, there isn't any way to display them in the project browser.

Even though you can paste and use them linked in several diagrams.

Yep, it's a bug that has been around for a while. I don't recommend exploiting it. Eventually you'll find it's been deleted.

And I thought it was a useful feature, the bug being you can't use 'find in other diagrams'!

Hi Simon,

Please do not change not to allow copy&paste legends. It is very useful to define a legend and use in several diagrams, since if the legend is changed (e.g. add a color) I do not need to update all legends but change only one legend.

And legend often shows common color rule in model, so it should be used in many diagrams. (And now legend has much more powerful feature to apply color automatically, so legends will be used more than now, across many diagrams.)

I think it is not necessary to show legends in the Project Browser since it is not model element like Class, so I hope to keep current behavior.

Diagrams (apart from certain specialised diagrams) aren't model elements either but they ARE shown in the browser.

Everything in the repository should be visible in the browser if requested by the user.  If you don;t know which package an legend (for example is in - since you can't see it) then you may inadvertently delete the package and the legend.

Obviously, legends should be rendered appropriately in the browser so as to distinguish them from true model elements.

It would probably be nice to make the browser configurable. In the same way connectors could be made visible in the browser (like other tools do it). If configurable each user could choose what level of detail to see in the browser.

Is it also a bug that you can paste as a link notes, boundary, text element?
This is another nice feature.
