Hi there

I'm a fairly experienced sparx ea user. As you know sparx ea provides a wide but confusing range of customization options. It's very difficult for newbies to get covered all these customization possibilities. One of our customers is using sparx ea as enterprise-wide repository for managing processes, features, and applications. Only 3 or 4 heads are maintaining the ea repository and are skilled enough, to create and manage the model. But there are a numerous stakeholders who have / should have access to the central sparx ea repository running on SQLServer.

We are using MDG  technologies for custom stereotypes (element, relationships, toolbar, etc) and UML Stereotypes settings for the visual representation (color of element shapes) that is part of the so called reference data. The distribution of the MDG stuff as well the reference data is relatively simple. MDG by directory path, and reference data by importing it from xml files.

But there are much more settings that are hidden somewhere in the EA menue trees:
- tools > customize
- tools > options
- project settings
- reporting/templates
- diagram element styles, and probably much more

I got the task to unify the look and feel of the EA clients for all users according to their corporate band manual - enterprise wide.

What is the best approach to do so? Constraint: It should be applicable to ea newbies as well
- is there any possibility to set the ea configuration parameters centrally?
- I have read in the intro section of the customization guide, that the ea client program settings could be stored in the windows registry - but I don't find any further information on this particular topic?

Any advice out there?!

thanks for your hints and tips

cheers
/ martin

Most of it can be exported via the registry. You will need to deflea the export from absolute file locations. But else this will cover a great part of the look and feel of EA.
