Roadmap
« on: January 29, 2016, 03:25:42 am »
Dear All

Does EA, or any of its extensions, support the depiction of Roadmaps such as found here:
https://business-docs.co.uk/downloads/product-roadmap-template/

The ideal would be if the roadmap could lay itself out according to model element metadata.

All the best,

Y

Sparx doesn't support that type of notation but you can do road maps.
You could use UML activity diagrams but I use ArchiMate Implementation Diagrams with the new roadmap feature
Check out the following links;
http://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/12.1/project_management/roadmap_diagram.html
http://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/12.1/project_management/roadmapdiag_options.html

I use the auto colour option with the legend to show the status of the work package on the roadmap.
Check out that feature;
http://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/12.1/building_models/diagram_legends.html

I use horizontal swim lanes to separate the groups of work packages on the roadmap

Hope that helps

That is very helpful Sunshine - lots of material.
I'll get back to you with how I get on.
I'm going to post a new topic to request that someone posts some screenshots of how to give Kudos - for the life of me I can't see how and it's much deserved  8)

You simply need to click on the "helpful" link right underneath the karma indicator to give karma.

Hello Sunshine and Geert
I really appreciate both your replies.

As an aside, in respect of giving Karma I'd really like to do this for you both. But my IE9 on the Corporate network is neither rendering images nor showing a Karma link. Something required by the forum website is blocked by the Corporate network settings, and I have no way to override. To compensate, there is a real Karmic wave heading your way instead.

To the main subject: I've trialled the built-in roadmap (custom diagram, Roadmap options, use of legend to auto-colour segments on the roadmap items). Is there any metadata on the roadmap items that is used to determine the segment sizes, and/or is updated when the segment sizes are altered. Or is it all stored in the diagram?

Thank you very much,

Karmically,

YogaMatt

One of the Sparxians revealed in another post that you don't get to see the helpful link until you have at least 20 (or something) posts.

So if that would be true you should start seeing them after only two more posts ;)
