IFML
« on: February 01, 2016, 07:20:56 pm »
Hello All,

As always I apologize for my bad english.

EA supports IFML notation? The User Interface Model has some relation with it? IFML is useful? I looked quickly the formal document and I was with serious doubts if it has a practical application...

- EA supports IFML? -> no, I don't think so
- UI modelling has anything to do with IFML? -> no, not at all
- is IFML useful? -> I don't know

It doesn't look particularly complex to implement.  If it's something you really want put in a feature request.  You never know it may just happen.

IFML is one of the many specifications that we are continuing to consider for future implementation.

It acts as a natural complement to UI design features by defining how users will move between different screens, while leaving the actual screen design as abstract. Effectively defining the behavior for the static screen designs.

Hello,

I was searching the web for news about IFML. And I stumbled on this post.

Simon, I support your initiative ! Do you have any date when you will publish the results ?

For several months now, I have build a Profile and a MDG Technology in EA to describe the screens, the user interactions and the flows between the user and the system. I have writen a serie of templates using the Acceleo product. These templates exploits the model described in Enterprise Architect and generate and a big part of Java web applications.

The limitations of this MDA approach are due to the fact that my profile is very poor compared to the precision and the completeness of IFML.
For information, you can have a look at : http://ifml.github.io/.
I like Sirius but with Enterprise Architect, we can have a support for the whole lifecycle of a project : from the requirements to the test cases including processes, use cases, classes, with traceability, report generations and so on.

So I will be very happy when you will publish an IFML MDG technology or an IFML profile in EA !

Thanks for your work
Michel
