Set icon for root node
« on: March 05, 2016, 01:50:39 am »
Hi!

Is it possible to specify a different icon for a root node?
Another way of putting it, I guess, is "is it possible to create a stereotyped root node?"

I'm guessing no, because from what I understand root nodes are only packages-ish. Unlike real packages, which includes views, root nodes have no corresponding element and thus nowhere to store a stereotype.

But I could be wrong.

Am I?

Hi Uffe,

I'm afraid you are entirely correct in your assumption.

As discussed earlier: removing the constraint for views on the first level and making all packages just packages with the possibility to stereotype them (rather than using the view) would solve a lot of problems.

True, but root nodes are special in a different way to views, and I have a hunch that despecialifying them would be a lot harder. And not as urgent, IMO.

Prettig weekend!

PS. Funny: Google translated that to "happy holidays" when translating to Dutch, but to "Nice Weekend" when translating to English

I don't see a good reason to make root (/view) notes special packages. It's up to the modeler to decide at which level to put a package, not the tools task to hinder the modeler in doing so.

There's a bit of a thing on YouTube where people use Google Translate to translate song lyrics through multiple languages and sing the result.  For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMkJuDVJdTw.
