Issue after migrating to v12

Hi,

Our company migrated our Sparx installation to V12. As a result the layout of our BPMN Activity elements has changed.
In the old version, we could show return type and other types in the element on a diagram.
In the new version, the only thing we can show seems to be the name of the activity, which is free text. We want to use a Send/Receive Tasktype, and the text field shown on the element should be an element of our repository, not just any free text.

Any ideas?

Can you post an image how how it looked in the previous version, and where that information came from?

In v12 they have seriously improved BPMN 2.0 support, but that also means that you have to do things the BPMN way from now on.
If you were (ab)using UML constructs in your BPMN diagram I can image that they are now not visible anymore.

In our previous version the text on the diagram was: "Send :Initiate process"

• "Send" is the name of the activity (so the reader knows it is a sending task)
• "Initiate process" being the message that is sent (but defined as Return type so it is shown on the diagram). "Initiate process" should be selected from a package our catalog, to make sure the people how make the flows don't invent new messages.

In version 12 only the name of the activity ("Send") is displayed.

I'm pretty sure the return type you are using is a UML feature and not BPMN.
So I guess you'll have to find a BPMN compliant alternative to that notation  (or define your own modeling notation possibly derived from BPMN)

If I understand correctly there is no way to add another text than the object's Name to a BPMN2.0 Activity?

Not if you want to use the BPMN notation I think.
AFAIK there's nothing in the BPMN specs that allows for something like that.
