Drag and drop as "link" creates a new blank diagram
« on: April 19, 2016, 02:34:38 am »
Scenario:

Drag and drop Business Process A (From Package A) as a link on Diagram B (Package B) and a new blank diagram appears under Package A.

The linked element does not link to the original one we dropped, instead it links to the newly created empty diagram.

Is this a bug? We have been dropping business process diagrams as links for a while and never encountered this issue. We need to reference the same business process diagram in many scenarios, so it would be a shame if the feature did not work.

Thanks, Sam.

Sam,

Are you dropping  the diagram or the Business Process as a link?
If Business Process, which kind? BPMN1.0, BPMN2.0, EA's own business processes?

Do you actually see the dialog giving you the options to drop as link/instance?

Hello
I work with Phillimo...

The business process type is BPMN2.0.
Dropping it as a link on an empty Business Process type diagram
When dropping, the dialog appears and we are using the Drop as Link option
This is happening not only on a shared repository (MSSQL) but also on a local file.\
I'm using EA 12.1 build 1229, Phillimo 1228 i think.

Thx.
Maros

No, I've never seen this type of behavior. Dropping something as link should never create a new diagram I think.
Does this happen on all business processes, or just on some?

There are a couple of things you can try:

- Reset BPMN prompts (a button somewhere in the options)
- Run a Project Integrity Check (Shift-F9) and fix all errors

I can reproduce it.
You may want to submit a bug report.

Try turning off all MDG's and add-ins except for the the standard EA ones and BPMN 2.0

Hello
No joy, turned off all extensions and all add ins, restarted Sparx, only BPMN2 was what was left and it did not helped. :(
