The Resource Allocation Window disappeared
« on: May 02, 2016, 11:58:28 am »
I was assigning resources to an element and tried to expand the window double-clicking on the top of the window. Then the window disapeared!!!
I don´t understand... I´d tried to restart and to find help on user guide but without success.
Anyone can help me, please?
I´m using 12.1 trial version.

Thanks in advance.

Did you try Element | Project Management | Resource Allocation ?

If it doesn't help, try re-selecting the current workspace layout (View | Toolbars | Workspace Layouts)

Element | Project Management | Resource Allocation had the same result as View | Portal | Manage | Resource Allocation, or else: nothing happened.

But re-selecting the current workspace layout worked: I have Resource Allocation resource again.

Thanks!

I've seen this happen on occasion with various windows. The solution is to re-select the current workspace layout, as you did.

Presumably the window gets shrunk to an impossibly small size, or placed off-screen, or something along those lines, due to some bug lurking in a deep dark corner. And since EA retains the location and size of its windows after they've been closed, closing and reopening the broken window doesn't help. But selecting a workspace layout resets all window layouts so that's your workaround.

If this bug can't be hunted down and stomped on, I would humbly suggest that the size and position of a window be sanity-checked when the window is opened and, if they're off the map, reset.
