Scripting to change appearance/show results
« on: May 24, 2016, 01:32:18 am »
Hi folks,

I've got a few questions...
Is there a way within EA to display query results in your diagram (or even create a new diagram to show the results)?

For example, I have a simple process with a few components linked to each activity step. I want to be able to build a query that basically says "show me all of the components with a value of 7 in Tagged Value 'X'". Ideally, the results would show up in a different colour.

Also, is there a way to do this with connectors? By this, I mean I want to have the ability to give a connector a score to indicate the importance of the relationship. Then, I would do the above but this time using the connectors to define a value in order build the query around to show the results.

I hope that's relatively clear...I'll soon find out.

Thanks

D

Yes, you can.

There's a whole API that allows you to create and edit diagrams and the elements and connectors they show.

But if you are just after getting results of something then you might want to consider using (SQL) searches instead.

Have a look at the ModelView artifact from the Artifacts toolbox. Also have a look at Diagram Legends with auto color. One of those might provide some of the functionality you're after.
