V13: Is context help box gone?

In pre V13 versions when you moved the mouse to some kind of commands often a little box appeared (can’t remember the technical term) with some information about what this icon, menu item on screen is good for (e.g. you if you moved the mouse to something in the toolbox some informative text appeared).

In V13 Buid 1301 this is gone. Does it come back?

I think Peter IS referring to Tool Tips. These are now displayed at the left hand end of the Status Bar, at the bottom of the screen.

Why?  Is that part of the new "Ribbon" Standard from Microsoft?

Previously, our focus was where the mouse was, the tool tip appeared where our focus was.  Now,we have to move away from our focus and then re-establish - 2x context switches!

I have an RC helicopter simulator that does something similar - it's one of the MOST irritating parts of the UI!

Just spun up 1301 and tried it...  YEP, just as irritating as the simulator!

I just started Word and it still puts the tool-tips close to the mouse - so I guess it's NOT part of the standard.

Please put the tool tips back where they were!  Just put the change down to the "streaker's defence":  "It sounded like a good idea at the time, your honour".

Try looking at the visual style dialog. There is already a checkbox there that allows traditional tooltips to be displayed.

A main reason is something along the lines of once you know what a command is, the tooltip ends up getting in the way.

Yes, it is tool tip what I was taking about. I disabled “Show Tips in Status Bar” just because I am not very good in squinting.

Personally I think that the ribbon interface was a terrible idea from microsoft.
I trying my best to like it in EA but my productivity is only declined...
