Unable to delete unused table

I've modified a template in the RTF generator which has left me with an empty table. When I try to delete the table it says: "This section contains protected text." I believe this is because it used to have method parameters in one cell of the table. But that is moved now (when to flat description instead of table). Any ideas? Is there a way to manually edit the templates in a text editor, or are they stored in binary?

I have had this problem. It is a pain.
My work around is to export the document, edit it in a real word processor, then reimport it.
