unintelligible text in Common-note

Hi,I can add note for the Activity in Chinese character yesterday.Today i add new note ,all the Chinese character input change to ?.All note already exist seems OK but i can't do any change.Please help me thx.

You're probably using EAP files with Jet 3. Switch Tools/Options to Jet 4. You also need to download the Jet4 base model from somewhere on Sparx' site.

Thanks for your answer.I stil have the issue
1.I check the OLE DB,I have the microsoft jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider(It's mean my computer have jet4？)
2.I check the tool-option-use jet4.0 and restart my computer，It's not work.
3.My OS is win8

We use the svn to management EA Project,my colleague don't have the issue.their OS WIN7 or WIN10
I also try download the EABase Jet4 from the follow URL，but stil not work in my computer...

With the Jet 4.0 you do need to convert the Jet 3.5 .eap to Jet 4.0. For more details on this see the notes on:

Have you transferred your project from your JET 3.5 EAP file to a JET 4 EAP file?

I do as follow

1.Download  Jet 4.0 base from http://www.sparxsystems.com/bin/EABase_JET4.zip
2.Create a new project test2.eap(have the issue)
3.Use file to file transfer,source select test2.eap ,target is EABase_JET4.eap

Creating a new .EAP repository from within EA will create a Jet 3 (non-Unicode version).

Copy and rename the downloaded Jet4 .EAP file and double click to open it.

I don't think that JET 4 is the issue.

• Existing notes work
• Copy and paste works
• Direct input doesn't
• This has only been described for notes

I suspect a problem with the IME edit mode for Chinese in the note fields.

What OS are you running?
What keyboard layout are you using?
What codepage (language for non-unicode programs) is set?

English (New Zealand) with Maori keyboard
I confirm that I can (still) not enter, via a keyboard, āēīōū etc into the notes field (but it works find in the name, alias, keywords, author fields for example).
These characters can be pasted into the notes field.

It's 'coz you keep winning the Bledisloe.  The Sparxians are in OZ...  Work it out... 

Having it work in parts of the UI and not in others is them "turning the knife".

Kiwi, I honestly thought the Maori keyboard was working in the notes editor. We did have it working here.

Unfortunately, it reminds me of a similar situation with an Eastern European language that had similar problems. I remember that after creating a Windows install in that language we still couldn't reproduce it. It ended up being that installs various software changed the codepage definitions in the windows, and that's what was causing the issue.

If you want to send in another bug report on the topic (or re-open an existing one) then we can investigate further. But I'm completely out of ideas.

PS. I've heard of "Bledisloe" paired with cup, so I assume it's a sporting event.
