Auto-colour Legends need Value AND Caption
« on: January 20, 2017, 06:29:30 pm »
Auto-colour legends allow the use of element properties and tagged Values.  However, they conflate the value of the property with the caption to be shown on the diagram.
When you create an Auto-colour legend at present, there is an implicit assumption that the values of the identified property are the caption of the Legend for that value.  For us geeks that may be OK, but for real peop0le, that may well not be the case (especially for tagged values and - potentially - user-selected diagram properties).
If the value and the caption were related in the legend specification, then this could be better managed by the diagrammer (and, incidentally, would open up ANY field in the element for use in an Auto-color Legend).

This is a key feature needed for the auto-legend.

You can work around it by copying the auto legend, turning off the apply colours, updating the values to what you want displayed, and then placing this new legend over the auto legend.

Can you elaborate by detailing a few steps please?
