Exporting to Excel
« on: January 26, 2017, 02:22:54 am »
Hi there,

Can a package/diagram be exported to Excel in way that allows to manipulate the resulting data? For example, I wonder if the resulting data (Excel file) can be filtered, manipulated and transformed.

Thank you in advance,

Marcelino

Look for CSV import/export in the help.

Hi Geert,m

I checked the CSV import/export in the help. I "tested" the options described there. But EA doesn't export the Excel file with data that can be manipulated afterwards. That's why I'm asking if anyone had a solution for this requirement.

Thank you,

Marcelino

Marcelino,

What do you man "cannot be manipulated afterwards"?
We've done that a quite often, export to CSV, manipulate the data in excel, and import back into EA.

For example, we would like to be able to "manipulate or transform" the data with the PowerPivot add-in, Filtering data, etc.

You can manipulate all you want, just make sure you save the data as CSV in exactly the same order you originally exported it.

Hi Marcelino Placeres

For exporting datas into excel and manipulate then to resynch to EA , you could use Enterprise Architects MDG Integration for Microsoft Office .

As Arshad mentioned you can try this MDG for Office tools
http://www.sparxsystems.com/products/mdg/int/office/office-integration.html

I use it often to export data and to re-work on my excel and sync back to EA.

It is quite easy too.
