BPMN Import
« on: February 08, 2017, 12:52:42 am »
Hi,

when I try to import BPMN, the strip GUID is checked and read only. This means that ID's are overwritten.
What do I have to do to be able to keep the id's from the imported BPMN?

Thanks!

Kind Regards,

Marianne

Strip GUID means that EA creates new GUIDs for the elements and thus does not match it against existing elements. Be sure to have it unchecked in order to replace rather than create new elements on import.

That is the problem: I can't uncheck the field because it is read-only. Why is it read-only?

That checkbox will only work for importing xmi that was generated by EA in the first place.
It won't do any good for other formats.

Marianne is talking about BPMN specific importer.
when I try to import BPMN, the strip GUID is checked and read only.
Yes. That option cannot be changed in any case (Informative only).
The BPMN that is being imported doesn't contain enough EA specific information to identify existing elements, even if that BPMN was exported through EA.
This means that ID's are overwritten.
No. It always creates new ones.
What do I have to do to be able to keep the id's from the imported BPMN?
Nothing. You just can't.
