Keystore service in SharePoint?
« on: July 09, 2015, 06:19:20 pm »
Dear Forum,
we are using EA in a program with several projects and many project members from different organizational units. As we would like to use floating licences we need to place the keystore service somewhere anybody from the different projects has access. Currently we only have a SharePoint site that can be accessed by all users and no common network drive. So my question is, if we can install the keystore service in the SharePoint site?

Do you have any experience with this topic? If this is not possible, we will try to find other options.

Thank you in advance and kind regards
Philipp

No.  AFAIK it's not possible to share a key store via SharePoint.

The following article states that a SharePoint was successfully used as file based key store. Is this really the case? (We are in a similar situation as PhilippH has described.)

http://community.sparxsystems.com/case-studies/950-dunstan-thomas-consulting-cloud-services-deployment-of-sparx-systems-enterprise-architect-for-atoc

... discovered that ATOC made use of Microsoft Cloud Based SharePoint functionality, and proposed a solution to host the Sparx Systems floating licences on the Microsoft Cloud Based SharePoint.

This was performed, tested and ATOC were delighted to see that this solution worked perfectly. Furthermore, since only their staff had access to the Microsoft Cloud Based SharePoint location, access to the Enterprise Architect floating licences was provided automatically without the need for a user to supply a password.

Thanks

Hello Philipp,

Just a quick check -- is there a particular reason you don't want to deploy the keystore server (as opposed to the file based store)?
