Author Topic: Copy/Paste and crash issues (Read 11112 times)

Hi all,

Have been using Sparx EA for quite some time, but since v13 I'm running into issues.
The most frustrating one is that if I create a basic UML diagram, see sparx3.png and I select all (using CTRL+A) and I copy (using CTRL+C), then the contents on the clipboard are not complete, the image is cropped to the right and to the bottom. This never happened before.
See sparx4.png for a simple paste operation in Paint. Note that I have tried other applications like Word, PowerPoint, ... It's always cropped, doesn't have anything to do with Paint itself.

I must also state that sometimes when I unplug and plug an external monitor to my laptop (or it goes to sleep) Enterprise Architect crashes for some reason, don't know why, but it may be related.

For the truncated images, is EA set to use bitmaps or metafiles on the clipboard? (Start | Workspace | Preferences | General)

The crash sounds a lot like reports that we had about Windows 10. Check if you're on the latest build, I believe it was fixed in 1310.

An workaround for this issue.
Instead of copying and pasting diagram into powerpoint would you considered using PowerPoint Extension of Enterprise Architect (includes in MDG Office Integration ).
You can export diagrams directly from EA to powerpoint by a single click.

CTRL-B copies the diagram image to the clipboard. I have never had any problems with that.

I am running v13.5 and have the same issue, however I wonder if it is a MSFT Windows 10 Issue.
When I copy diagrams using the clipboard to PowerPoint, e-mail, etc. much is cropped off.
A system reboot solves the problem for a few days then it happens again.

However, a clipboard problem I have had since EA v10 is the document is copied with 30% more right and bottom margin leaving too small an image.

When I try to copy a diagram to the clipboard with format Metafile and then paste into MS Word or Paint only one or two elements in the diagram are copied. But when I switch format to bmp the copy-paste works just fine.

The quality of the BMP image does not appear to be as good as Metafile so I would like to figure out how to get the clipboard copy feature working with Metafile.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try saving the diagram and then use it.
Cntrl + T ( Shotrcut for saving diagram ) .

The diagram was saved and saved again but same results. Other ideas?

My opinion is that this is a memory leak in EA. In EA10-13 I noticed that if I reboot the bug goes away for a little while, then comes back.
In EA14, which I just installed 2 days ago, it seems to be fixed. However, EA14 still seems to have a bug where too much white space is copied.

Hi all,

One of my customer faced the same issue, and the reason is DPI is not 100%.
If DPI is 100%, this issue does not happen. But if 125% or 150%, it happens on some machines.
