Find Command in EA 13
« on: June 08, 2017, 01:10:24 am »
In the new interface some of the blurb talks about the 'Find Command' field at the end of the Ribbon.

I don't have this, and I can't see anywhere to enable/disable it - has anybody else used it?  Seem to remember one of presenters commenting on it at the London User Group meeting so I know it does exist.

http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/13.0/user_interface/ribbons.html  I have the second option, under the file command drop down, just nothing at the end of the ribbon.

regards

I use it frequently. Itīs at the end of the menu right of the "Extend" command,
Frequently used by myself as I donīt want to scan through the ribbons to execute  a command hidden in the structure.

I also juct checked the Perspective settings but have not found a way to disable it. Did you already try setting the Perspective to "All"?

"Find Command" doesn't always appear.

It depends on the 'Application Look' you have chosen.

If you choose Office 2016, then it definitely appears, not sure which others support it.

Can this be related with the availability of remaining space to the right of the menu?
Might be worth trying to disable some of the menu entries to reclaim some space in the menu.
Just a thought.

Thanks for all your help, it does appear to be down to the visual style you choose.

Using Office 2016 style and it appears as if by magic.  Something to remember then

Cheers

All themes have an equivalent search function in the application menu button.

Just saying, but that 'find command' doesn't seem to be able to locate anything by their previous 'well-known names'.
How much help is that?
Why not just say, 'We've changed the name and location of everything, and all the navigation containers and the names of all the navigation items, but we didn't care enough to give you a map'?
So if you don't know the new designations, we're sorry, but the new find tool can't help you, and all the documentation only describes the previous nomenclature and previous navigation. :-X
That would be at least setting a fair expectation. :-X
