Start Page Icons

For years now I have seen the 10 icons on my home page but have no idea what they do.  I have not found them referenced in the help and there is no flyover assistance.  Can anyone point to a reference page for these or explain what they do?

Now I recognize those as icons - after how many years since they have been introduced? So I never used and never missed them. Try clicking them or do like me: ignore them.
