Unlock a Block element
« on: January 18, 2018, 08:33:34 am »
I have created a new model and have an element which is showing as Locked.

I do not recall locking this element and did not intend to lock it, of course.

When I right mouse click on the block in the Project Browser, it does not allow me to delete this element nor to unlock it.

I should also mentioned that I have not enabled security on the model. I looked at unlocking it via SQL to no avail.

Can someone chime in as to how to unlock it OR how to delete it?

I am using version 13.

Thanks.
Angelo

How is it shown as locked? Have you turned on version control?

It is shown with a red exclamation mark.

I don't think I turned version control on. How can I check?

Thanks.

How exactly is EA not allowing you?
Is the lock/delete menu disabled or doesn't appear or does it throw an error?

You have probably turned on security, and someone else locked that element.
Search for "Manage Locks" to be able to remove the lock.

If the element locked by someone then it will be notified using Red Exclamation
- Try to unlock will say who has locked the element
If Require User lock to edit is enabled then you may not see any icons.
- To Edit/Modify use apply release lock.

This model is on my laptop and only accessed by me.

This is the only Element showing a red exclamation mark. At this point, I would just like to remove it.

When I right-mouse click on the block, the "Delete" option is disabled.

I have not enabled Security on this model.

Thanks,
Angelo

You can lock elements even when the security is not enabled.
Having the locked Block displayed on a diagram, a right click will show "Lock Element" - if the padlock is highlighted it means that the element is locked so you simply need to click on this option (Lock Element).

Guillaume, this will not show the red exclamation mark. It will just disable the OK button in the properties.

What I would try to get rid of that, would be:

An Export/Import or;
an enable/disable of security.

I am not sure if it works but it is worth to give it a try.
