MDG Integration Tool for Microsoft Office import Synchronization
« on: February 08, 2018, 08:46:23 pm »
Hi,

Question from a Noob  ::)

When I try to import an excel with Synchronization it works fine the first time and all elements and diagrams are created.
Next time I try to import the same (or backup) file - the excel is imported and all elements incl the added element and everything is showed in the status log as success. (Updated or created)

But...
All elements are deleted and is only showed in the diagram and not the the Projekt Browser.
The only element that is in the Project Browser is the newly added element.

What did I miss ??

I beleive the elements are moved to another package imported newly. If it shown in diagram it will be in the project browser select element in diagram and press Alt+G to locate in project browser

Hi Nabil

Yes you are right "If it shown in diagram it will be in the project browser..." - one should say.
But the issue is.. There is no Elements after second import.

But the issue is.. There is no Elements after second import.

MDG Integration for Microsoft office wont delete any elements from the model.
It will create new elements and if synchronization enabled it will update existing elements and will create new elements.

So as nabil suggested Please select the elements in diagram and give Find In Project Browser. you can find the location of the elements.

And if the elements are deleted it won't even show in the diagram as well.

Hi Soren,

I frequently use MDG office excel to import/update values from excel. I have never seen such case.

And do you mean after second time import your elements missing in diagram as well?

Hi, was this issue ever resolved. I am too finding the same. When I import an excel sheet, the elements are visible in the workspace and removed from the project browser. Only elements with no GUID's are imported as new. I've read the replies from some users and I can assure you the OP is correct, elements are removed.

Riccardo,

If you are still seeing the elements in your diagram (after reloading the diagram) that means that they aren't deleted.
They are somewhere in your project browser, but they might have moved from one location to another.

Select an element and press Alt-G to select it in the project browser.
