I have an issue where a dialog box appears with the error 'Unknown/illegal base type error when adding elements to diagrams'.

This occurs when I drag an element from a tool box to a diagram or right click on a diagram and select 'New element or connector'.

It seems to affect all elements and all diagrams in any model that I open.
Other users are able to edit the same models correctly.

I was able to edit these models until today.

In order to reduce the problem to its simplest form, I have created a new EA model, adding a component model to it. Opened the example 'components diagram' and tried to drag a new component on to it.  The error still occurs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Daimon

Daimon,

I would first try to disable all add-ins and MDG's. Since other users don't have this problem one of the MDG's or add-ins might be causing the issue.
