Sysml Nested ports in EA V14
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:34:40 am »
Does anybody how define nested ports in Sysml using EA v14?
In EA versions before V14 it was possible to define a port from a certain type (block, interface, signal, etc). In EA14 it looks like this is no longer possible. I tried to use the interaction points but that doesn't provide the same functionality.

Hi,
Why do you think it is not Interaction Points?
For me it seems to provide the same functionality.

I can get the parent port's child ports to show up in Interaction Points. I can tick them but they do not then appear on the diagram and the Visible flag remains False too. All it took to make the parent port appear was to tick it when the owning block was selected. EA1420.

Hi Spaxians,
This is (at least for me) a show stopper for V14.
Will that be fixed soon?

I just foundd out, that the handling of ports on parts is also odd without port in ports
When selecting a part and checking a port (check box) in the interactions point dialog, a port is created each time (even when already there).
So for ports on parts EA14 is doing too much and for ports in ports it is doing nothing.

So I would say, IBD diagrams are broken in V14. :'( :'( :'(

Hi,

I also noticed with V14 property elements on ibd's are now shown (per default) with several compartments enabled, which 'fubar'ed every ibd I opened.

IMHO V14(21) is broken and not useable.  :(

Sparx seems to start suffering the 'to many new features and too little regession' effect.

It seems that build 1422 has some progress regarding this issue as well.

I have not looked jet in all details, but I will do soon.

Maybe those interested in this area look on the issue by using build1422 as well.

Looking a bit deeper to build 1422 regarding that issue, it turned out that IDBs are still broken.

At least, on IBD diagram level I saw the menu item “Synchronize Structural Elements” is back, but does not synchronize anything.

Due to the fact, that the ibd frame is now not selectable by default, the Feature & Properties view cannot be used by clicking somewhere into the diagram (just confuses the users).
By making the fame selectable, Feature & Properties view can be used and the new but pure implemented frame auto-sizing is disabled as well.

Ports can now be added by Interaction Points to the frame (great!), but ports in ports do still not work.

Parts/Properties are sometimes shown, sometime not (did not find a rule). If shown clicking on a part several times still creates a part anew rather than doing a enable/disable.
Further on, if you make the frame "not selectable again", auto-sizing of the frame starts and makes the whole diagram just corrupt in layout.

It is hard to belief, that anyone from Sparx have ever use that feature after coding was done. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Best regards,

I was adventurous and dug into V14 after staying off of V13.5. Well done. This is the first release which has more bugs than features. The banana software is now not just delivered green to ripe at the customers site but more a sapling so one can grow it :-/
