Duplicate profile name: ZF detected in technology ID: ZF

Installed 13.5 (Ultimate) and the MDG packages. I get the subject error message. Uninstalled TOGAF and Zachman, and reinstalled one by one.  The issue seems to be in the Zachman package, but I can't open sample projects for SysML, Zachman, or TOGAF. UPDM works ok.

I searched the history for this issue. It was reported in 2014 and apparently, not fixed.

When opening the SysML sample project, I get "An error has occurred: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ...  It is already opened exclusively by another user or you need permission to view its data."

I had the Trial version installed previously but removed it before installing the purchased version. Any leftovers from trial causing this?

I think it was a known issue a few years back,  ZF and TOGAF had the same ID and hence this was reported, but I thought an updated build of one of these resolved it.
As a quick fix,  goto MDG Technologies and disable either one (TOGAF / Zachman)

Thank you for your response.
I uninstalled everything and deleted the two EA folders that persisted (including the trial.)
Reinstalled EA
Installed TOGAF
Installed Zachman (immediately got the "duplicate ZF" message when EA starts)
Installed UPMD2

It seems that the only thing broken at this point is the ability to open the TOGAF and Zachman sample projects. I get the JET database error message in either case.

I can insert new Zachman and TOGAF models into a project now.  I guess that is all I really need.

As Nizam said, this was fixed in the TOGAF add-in a few years ago. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest versions of both Zachman Framework and TOGAF.

First, don't install the SysML add-in. SysML is built-in to Enterprise Architect (11 or higher i think) and is unlocked when the appropriate license is entered. The MDG Technology for SysML add-in is deprecated and is only for SysML 1.0. We don't recommend using this unless you have legacy models which require this specific version.

The actual error message is because the add-in is trying to open the Example EAP model from within the Program Files directory. EA can't open from there because normal user accounts only have read access to this location in modern versions of Windows. To open the file, it needs to be copied to another directory where you do have read/write access and then open directly from there.

You can find other SysML examples in the EA Example model (Start > Help > Help > Open Example Model. Browse to: Example Model.Systems Engineering.SysML Example)

When you update your Zachman and TOGAF add-ins, this JET error should also be fixed as the latest versions of these add-ins should copy the example model into APPDATA before opening.

I uninstalled the SysML package and moved the sample databases to a directory I have full control over. I don't mind browsing to find the example projects, but the links in the menu bar no longer work.

I no longer get the Jet database errors, but
1. When EA starts up, I get a System Output box "WARNING: Duplicate profile named: ZF, detected in technology ID:ZF"
2. When I open sample models, I get the "Cannot Create XML Document" at least three times, five times for the ZF example.

I confirmed that I am using the latest MDG packages.

How? Did you go on to our webpage and download the latest installer for both add-ins? Then uninstall the old ones and install the new? What version information do the add-ins give in EA and in the properties of the installer?

This is another sign that you aren't using the latest add-ins. The old version of those add-ins relied on EA installing something it no longer installs.

Unfortunately those links are referring to old versions of Zachman and TOGAF. Notice the .exe vs .msi file extensions. Use the download links from my previous post to get the latest versions. Uninstall your current versions, then run these .msi installers.

Also, don't install SysML or DoDAF-MODAF. Both of those are deprecated. (SysML is now built-in and DoDAF-MODAF was replaced by UPDM)
