Use Alias if available

Hello,

In my MDG technology, I have a diagram where I have enabled “Use Alias if available”. In my MDG toolbox, I have a package element, and every time I add this onto the above mentioned diagram, it populates the alias and then displays it on the diagram, but I don’t want it to do that.

Before I turned on this flag, it was not prepopulating the Alias field on the package. Not sure why it is doing it now. Any pointers?

May be you have 'Apply Auto Naming and Couner' enabled for this, and  it is just showing up because you've enabled the option.

You are right, I do. So the auto naming populates the alias?

yes, you could have configured Name or Alias to be auto populated,  Please check your 'Auto Naming' settings for the item

I looked under the Configuration setting for it but I don’t see anything configured for “package”. I will keep looking to see if it is applying a different basic type to the package and then auto populating it?

If there are any other setting you think I should check, please let me know.

If you don't have any 'alias' or ' name' configuration (with Apply on Creation), then there could be some background addin that could be handling create.

I'm not sure of any other configuration that could do this.

What do you see in your 'Alias' field of new packages

The problem stated here is bit confusing. You say that you've turned on an option and EA is behaving according to it. But, you don't want that to happen?
Or, do you mean that you don't want the effect of that option to be applied for package elements?

Thanks all. Will look into  Project Template. Not sure where to look, but EA Help to rescue I hope

I have the Auto naming turned on for Requirements, right now it is populating it for my Packages, that’s the issue.

I'm afraid there is some miscommunication here, a snapshot of your AutoNumber Config, and whats the error you are referring to should help us understand.

TEmplate package is a setting, if you are using 13, search for Project Template Package.
