For me it was very handy to edit names directly in the project browser without opening the Properties dialog. This feature seem to be gone in V14. But why?

Pressing F2 still works fine for me.

You can also edit the name of any item in the Project Browser by selecting the item and pressing F2.

What I miss is the ability to double-click slowly on a browser item to be able to change the name within the browser, like e.g. in MS Explorer. This feature just has gone.

I'm with Peter in that I'd like to see that feature come back as its so much more convenient than trying to remember to press F2. If I want to be forced to remember shortcut keys I'd still be using Vi or Emacs.

At least it's consistent.  Editing of the name on a diagram - having selected the name field - with a double-click has also gone.  You need to use F[F2] to get at the name.

But I'm also finding that editing names in the Attribute dialog (where each attribute is listed) has gotten worse. It was always a bit problematic for me, but now it's quite stressful.  Double-click seems to misbehave.

Not using V14 at work just yet so not aware of all these "new features". However just tried editing name on diagram with double click and it worked okay for me.
Similarly only tried a creating a few attributes then updating and seemed to be fine although a little different.
Using build 1418 is that the same build you have having problems with Paolo?

There are some "unlovely" things in the new "Element Properties" view.

From working with EA for years, I know that either I have to press "OK", close something, or just point to something else to get changes stored in the DB.

If you edit an attribute in the Elements Properties" view and you move to another property it gets stored, but if you click to something outside of the Elements Properties view it is not stored. You have to press return first.

Furtheron, does anyone know how I can edit the model root?
Best regards,

I'm actually quite happy that the edit-by-double-click is gone.

Hated it when I double-clicked to open a package but clicked to slowly so it went into edit mode. Happens to me all the time.

F2 is such a widely used shortcut that I guess almost everybody knows it. And if not you can use the Properties view or the properties dialog anyway...

Just my $ 0.02...

Hi Benno,
if you hate it just don’t use it.
Of cause this is not a show stopper, but it was there, and I love it, and it is MS-Windows standard somehow.

Peter, a root node in EA has always been a special case in that it doesn't have any of the other "element" things. The docked window couldn't show much, and would allow edit of even less.
