Can't insert basic operation signs into Element labels.
« on: May 22, 2018, 09:45:22 pm »
Today, I was trying to create an activity diagram. I added a decision element and tried to label it as "s ≥ n".

It worked but when I tried to add a note for the element, the ≥ sign turned into = sign.

Is this a bug? I want to be able to insert basic decision operators.

Might be a Jet3/4 issue. You should use Jet4 for EAP files. If you're using another DB, then which. And what is your EA version?

I checked JET 4.0 option under Preferences on General tab and restarted but still the problem is not gone. I am using version 13.

I think that just setting the tick mark is not enough. You need to transfer to an empty Jet-formatted EAP (it's somewhere on Sparx site available for download). Check this forum for Jet4.

EA now comes with a Jet 4 base model: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sparx Systems\EA\EABase.eapx"

What should I do again? EA comes with that JET file and transfer it where?

Open a project with the new Jet4 format (to be sure: copy the .eapx to somewhere). Now open the old project. Choose Project/Data management/Project transfer (or search for it with this ribbon stuff in newer EA versions). Perform the transfer to the .eapx. Close EA and dbl-click the .eapx. You should now have a Jet4 formatted database.

I don't see a .eapx option under New Project although I checked "Use JET 4.0" in preferences and restarted.

I think I need a download link to eapx model. Where can I get it?

Okay, I downloaded JET 4.0 file called EABase_JET.eap. Does it matter if it is old file from 2005? Is there a new version of the file as well?

When I open this file, I see a "View" already created in it. Can I get rid of this "View"?

It's only for version 14 which I don't use.

I downloaded the file from this link: http://www.sparxsystems.com/bin/EABase_JET4.zip but it is old file.

When I open it, I see "Views" created by default in it. Can I change this?

It appears that this is not (or no longer?) an empty model, but the example model. "Views" is just the root. Remove all of the views inside "Views" manually. Rename "Views" to "Root" (or whatever you like) and run a Project/Data Management/Manage .EAP/Compact. That will give you an empty template. (Basically for the model transfer these steps are not needed as the transfer will replace the entire model.)

In 13.5 it's simple to chose the feap option in the create a new repository dialog.  I eventually found the project transfer hiding under configure.  I was sure it was going to be in publish, but there you go.
