Connection not UML compliant (MDG - EA14)

Hi,
I'm reviewing a profile I created for an MDG technology (EA14). When I try to create a new stereotype that extends a new metaclass, I get the "requested connection is not UML compliant" message.
Any suggestion on why this happens, and how to fix it?

Haven't tested this, but there has been a number of reports related to 'strict connector syntax'  causing this issue. Try turning off strict connector syntax in preferences.

Perhaps the requested connection is not UML compliant?

What are the UML base metaclasses of your source and target elements and connector? Have you used the _metatype attribute in your profile to define your stereotypes as metatypes? Have you tried using the new <<metarelationship>> or <<stereotype relationship>> connectors to define your valid connections?

EA 15.1 wouldn't let me connect "RequestItem" to the Ref below it.

Same with other Connections:

- Diagram references linked with a Note element
- Assembly Connection between classes, or interfaces

I have already reported it to support on February 6 but so far no reaction, not even the reference to "Strict connector syntax"
