Activating MDG vs. enabling
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:07:47 am »
Can anyone explain what Activating a MDG actually means. Once enabled the technology is visible an (I'd say) active. So what does Activating put on top of enabling (except for the asterisk in the list)?

IIRC, it has something to do with the ability to associate an MDG with a package and the elements within it.

But I stand to be corrected.

For the (one and only) active technology, redefined toolboxes will be used (e.g. if your technology redefines the Class diagram toolbox), common toolboxes will be visible at all times, validation configuration will be set, ... (if I remember any more, I will post back here)

Thanks Neil. I guess it would be a good idea if Roy could add a sentence in the help file.

It was a good idea, quite a while ago!

I have just made a small amendment to the Work with MDG Technologies topic, but the Manage MDG Technologies topic already describes an Active technology as being the default technology for the model.
Best Regards, Roy

Thanks Roy. But it was not clear to me what the "default technology" means until Neil described this above. So that was missing in the help (especially in the Manage MDG Technologies section).
