MDG Microsoft office for EA 14
« on: December 26, 2018, 09:33:06 pm »
I'm currently using EA 14. I'm trying MDG Integration for Microsoft Office - Trial version.
I'm able to import elements from Excel.
I have two queries.
1) The elements are not imported in the order mentioned in the spreadsheet. Is it possible to maintain the order while importing?
2) There is no option for importing connector information. In the tutorial, I saw that there is an option for importing connectors as well.
I'd like to know if it is available only for the licensed version.
Thanks in advance.

No sorting is no possible in importing.

Yes its possible and available in trial version too .To define you need to map Connector to the column in excel which contains the connector details.

Note :
  • To enable Configure Connector , at least one of an excel column should be mapped as Connector.
  • You can map more that one column as Connector

Hi Arshad,

Thanks for the response.

No sorting is no possible in importing.

It's quite disappointing, as we are trying to import elements of a flowchart & if it comes in a different order than that in the spreadsheet, it will take additional time for arranging, which adds not much value to the importing option.  :(

So, do you mean it is available only in the licensed version or is it possible with the trial version also?

No its not . By Default , it will import in the order in which you've saved in the excel file

My Bad . Mapping connector information in available in both licensed and trial versions.

You're right. The option 'Allow Free Sorting' was disabled in the Preferences. After enabling that, the order is not changed.

In my import settings, the option is missing.

I can see only the 'My data has element type information' under profile settings. (Sorry, I'm not sure how to attach an image to the post)
But in the tutorial there is an additional option 'My data has Connectors information.'
I'm using EA 14. Is the option available elsewhere for this version of EA?

Hi Arshad,

In EA 14, the connector configuration is not under the settings. It is enabled if we select EA Element Property as 'Connector' in the 'Property Mapping' page of the Profile manager settings.
Now I'm able to import connectors as well.
Thanks a lot!!! :)
