EAP-Repair crashed: corrupt EAP-File: Error 3019
« on: January 17, 2019, 05:18:09 am »
EA 13
Configure > Model > Check Integrity > Manage .EAP File > Repair .EAP File

Dear all,
after a failed eap file repair (lost network share, ironically), I've ended up with a corrupt eap file. After entering the project password and receiving some messages in the system output window, I receive the following message:

An error has occured loading the requested project.
DAO.TableDefs [3019]
Operation invalid without a current index.

When trying to run another repair, I get:

[My Filename here...] isn't an index in this table. Look in the Indexes collection of the TableDef object to determine the valid index names.

(Due to the project's password protection?) I'm not able to open the file with MS Access.

Can anybody help me? Please?

Best,
Michael

Solved: EAP-Repair crashed: corrupt EAP-File: Error 3019

Dear all,
found a solution. Couldn't trigger an eap repair with EA and couldn't open the file with MS Access. Access could run a compact and repair, though. Phew...
Best,
Michael

Don't work with EAP (aka MS Access) over the network. Just deadly. Go to your latest backup. You don't have a backup? No mercy then :-/

As qwerty has said, an eap file on the network may work, but it is prone to issues. You may have been lucky this time.

As an alternative, the cloud server can be installed on a machine. Create a firebird model easily and you have a setup that it much safer than an eap on a network share. (Although you should still set-up a backup schedule)

Eve, qwerty,
thanks a lot for pointing out the firebird alternative to me. I've been working with EA for years, always with eap and the occasional MySQL-repository and wasn't even aware of its existence. :-)
Best,
Michael

P.S. Sure have. (Backup.) Sometimes, however...
