csv export import of table and column information
« on: February 22, 2019, 07:19:38 am »
I am new to Sparx and I would like to export the table and column data for the users to verify and then import the changes if necessary.  I have tried everything I can think of to get the table and column data exported and it keeps coming up blank.  I have created some notes on the model and I can get these to export but not the table and column data.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jane

Hi Jane,

The way we do this type of thing is to write an SQL search that returns exactly the info we need.
From the search results it's easy to export to CSV.

Hi Jane,

from what I understood, is that you have your model data in EA and you ant to get it out to the users for feedback and import the feedback afterwards. With tables and columns I guess you are working with data model information.

There is no direct import/export functionality as I know. I would go for the SQL Query way Geert has proposed, if you want to process the users feedback manually back into EA.
If I would have to do this more often, I would use an Excel with VBA to get the data out and back in. Geert has made a very good example for an Excel interface to EA if you need a starting point
