Profile hide elements in toolbox
« on: April 16, 2019, 11:28:24 am »
Hi,
I have created a UML profile and extended some association stereotypes.

Does anyone know how to hide these associations in the toolbox when the Profile is deployed?

I don't need them to be visible in the toolbox as I have defined them using the Quick Linker definition.

Thanks,
Rupert

If you create a toolbox profile only the items you explicitly add will be shown.

However... In EA 14 the quicklinker filters to the items in the items in the toolbox by default. You may not want to remove them.

Hi Eve,

I am having a bit of trouble with this.  Do you have a working example that you could send me or know where I could find one?

Many thanks,
Rupert

Have you imported a profile, or are you creating a MDG?

It's my understanding you can only do what you want in an MDG, and Eve's link seems to be along that line.  I take it from your pseudonym you're a Kiwi.  If you're in Wellington, there are a couple of us in Wellington who could help you out.

There is something of a working example in the EAExample model.

Example Model.Domain Specific Modeling.Example UMLProfile.Example UML Profile

I guess there is an alternative in v14. You can create a view specifications in your base profile that show the types (stereotypes and metaclasses for both elements and connectors) of your choosing in the toolbox and quicklinker when that view is selected. That still needs to be imported as part of a technology to work though. But you can do that with a single command. (With your profile package selected, Specialize | Technologies | Publish | Import UML Profile)

Thanks Eve, I will give that a try.

And thanks for your post Glassboy. I am from Wellington originally but live in Brisbane now.

Cheers,
Rupert
