Diagram strip Arrow controls need rework
« on: May 08, 2019, 10:10:48 am »
The diagram strip (in V14+) is now in a much larger font and some there are fewer visible on the strip than previously.  I don't have a problem with the font, but the arrows at the end of the strip seem to move only one character at a time.

<rhetorical question>
Can anyone supply the rationale for 1 character at a time, rather than the complete diagram name at a time?
</rhetorical question>

Should it be fixed, or am I alone in this?

Paolo

Whoever designed that control (not at Sparx Systems) intended those buttons to behave like scroll bar arrows. Hold them down to continuously scroll.

PS. Visual Style | Main View Tabs use Caption Style.

That also sucks (for me).  Try picking up the diagram name on a bouncing bus as it flashes past below.  That's why I posted.  I guess I'm too used to the Microsoft Access Window tabs or the NotePad++ window tabs or the Excel Window tabs etc. etc. which move a whole tab at a time.

A quick survey of a few products revealed that they either contract the tabs (with ellipses) when the set of tabs in the window overflows the size or they behave as I noted above.  None behave as EA.  Perhaps it's the wrong control?

Paolo

Perhaps, the wrong

Another life-saver is the Ctrl-Tab
If you hold the Ctrl you can Tab through all opened diagram while EA gives you a preview of each diagram.

Turns out few people now about this feature; it's one of the things I use to WOW people  8)
Pretty sure it works better on a bumpy bus-ride than trying to click the little navigation arrows

Uhm, what? Where and how do I need to hold the ctrl-key? And which EA version? Doesn't seem to work for me.

All versions that I know of.
Press and hold the ctrl key and then use tab or shift-tab to go through the open diagrams.
Should look like this:

No dice. Might be because I'm running Parallels on a Mac? Though these keys should be mapped correctly :-/

Might be. It doesn't work correctly when working via Remote Apps either.

Works with crossover too - works with right and left control keys.

Tim,
What keyboard does have a right control key?

Well, I'm working 99.9% of my time on a laptop. And 99.999% it's a Mac :-)

Yes, for me too, but not when only the application is published (so you don't get a full remote desktop but only the one application)
Must be a remote desktop thing I guess.
