Getting INVALID OBJECT warnings/errors
« on: May 30, 2019, 07:08:41 pm »
Hi!

I'm getting every time I want to transfer file to DBMS a set of errors: invalid object: (u)sys***  etc.

I read about database schema and database builder but I simply don't get any create or load data model option...

I just want to have store with diagrams so that my colleagues and I can easily access to each other diagrams and be able to edit! So I need file storage, I have no intention to make any queries when the .eap(x) file get to the Microsoft SQL server database.

I repeat: the only goal is to have ability to open eap file that is located on the server (not cloud) - and I have created database and ran the script from resources on the sparxsystems - DBMS repository scripts.

Please add more details.
What have you done exactly, what are you trying to do, what error messages you get.

Anytime I want to connect to server, test connection is successful but then ask me for retyping the password that I previously typed bellow username.. So I've been kicked numerous times and no one but me is connected to the server....

I followed the  https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/14.0/model_repository/upsizingtosqlserver.html  and following instructions.
I've suffered a lot and got several warnings so after the period of skipping (cancelling) I' decided to completely ignore that warnings and continued with transferring.. I capture just middle and end phase.

Middle phase:

after many warnings --> End phase - COMPLETED:

I checked object explorer (database previously created with imported script) in the SQL server and haven't found anything from my project (mostly BPMN 2.0 diagrams)

Then I read once more and found these https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/14.0/model_domains/importdatabaseschemafromod.html..
Database builder: I haven't found any create/load option even though I previously transferred file to DBMS.
Also this is not selectable...

There are too many preconditions and it is not user friendly environment at all.. I guess I am not the only user that had this kind of issue.
Hope to hear positive news from you!

Kind regards!

Ok now I see that my screenshots were not appended at all. I guess I won't be able to explain better without snips..

1. If you want to show images you'll have to upload them to a public image hosting site. (e.g. imgur.com). You can't upload images directly to this forum.

2. You are confusing two things. Host your model on an SQL server (that's what the model transfer is for) and importing a database schema. These are two completely different things. I'm pretty sure you currently need SQL server repositories, and not the database builder.

3. If you get a popup asking only for a password, then you probably have a connection problem. The same thing happens when you disconnect your pc from the network.

4. Setting up an SQL server repository is pretty much the easiest option. You can use all the default settings, don't have to create any ODBC etc... Make sure you use windows authentication to login into your database, and make sure you have all the needed rights.

What driver are you using to connect to the database?

You can see the images if you copy their address grom the context menu and open them in a new window.
