run Enterprise Architect in Eclipse
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:11:30 pm »
Hi,
I am trying to follow these instructions (http://www.sparxsystems.com/bin/MDG_Eclipse_Integration_Installation_Guide.pdf) to run EA from Eclipse. I have EA corporate Edition 9.3 and eclipse 3.7.2. To my knowledge MDG Eclipse integration should work for the corporate edition? However, I fail on step 4 in the instruction manual since I cannot find how to connect the EA model to the eclipse plugin.. (The menu entry does not exist and I cannot find it anywhere else...). Help would be highly appreciated.

Some more information here: http://www.sparxsystems.eu/enterprise-architect-mdg-integration/mdgint-eclipse0/

Thanks /
Jonas

That set of instructions looks very old.

I'm not sure how many of the recent changes impact on use of the MDG Integration for Eclipse, but try this:

In EA, select the Extensions | Manage Add-Ins menu option. A dialog displays that should list Eclipse; make sure that the Load on Startup checkbox is selected. Restart EA, and click on the Extensions menu option; Eclipse should now be listed.

If this doesn't make sense, it might also be that the available menus have been re-set. Select the View | Workspaces and Commands menu option, and select the Commands tab on the resulting dialog. Make sure the Complete option is selected. Click on the OK button and check the Extensions menu option again.

If that doesn't help, contact Sparx Support directly and ask for their assistance.
Best Regards, Roy

Thanks a lot for your advice. However, none of it helped and I will proceed and report this to Sparx. I'll post the result here for future reference.
