V15 trashed my browser
« on: June 27, 2019, 09:15:07 pm »
Now that my playtime with V15 is over (it didn't look that bad by the way) I want to go back to V13.5. But - that does no longer show the project browser :-? It pretends to show it in the window list. Uncheck/check does not help (uncheck not possible). Oh my. Looks like I have to re-install V13.

Nope. Re-installing V13.5 still does not show the browser. What a pain!

I ran the uninstaller. Cleaned the registry manually. Re-installed V13.5. Back in business. Well, at least I now can tell that you no longer can have different EA versions in parallel. Except they are hosted in their own VM - which is definitely no way to go for me: 20G extra for a single program? Never!

Until recently (my position was declared redundant in a recent major reorg - I start a new job next week), I was running v15, v14 and v13.5 on the same machine.

It may be the way you've set up the variants.  Typically, I copy the ..\EA folder to (for example) ..\EA14 and then I ALSO change the executable name from EA.exe to EA14.exe.  I then create different shortcuts to open the correct version.  There is always a ..\EA directory to allow the installer to do the right thing.  For example, to re-install v13.5, we copy ..\EA to ..\EA15, install v13.5 over the top of ..\EA and then replace the ..\EA13 folder with ..\EA.

Seems to work OK.  Sometimes its been very useful to switch versions to fix a problem that has broken in a later version.

HTH,
Paolo

In the past I zipped/unzipped the programs folder until I found that simply renaming was enough. Maybe I have to go back to the old installation method. I'll give that a try (after having backed up my VM). Thanks for the info that (at least) it's possible for you to have V15 installed in parallel.

have you tried resetting workspace?

I'm running 13.5 14 and 15 in my machine just with the conventional folder rename method
