Change UML Profile for StrategyMap
« on: June 28, 2019, 03:13:44 pm »
Hello,
I'm using the StrategyMap extension to model Flow Charts with extended objects like In-/Outputs, Reports etc. For those I'd like to extend the behavior of the Stereotypes by adding additional tags with a given selection. For "normal" = standard UML types like Class, State, Acitivity etc it working proper, but I can not figure out how to do this with StrategyMap Stereotype objects like
- FC_Process
- FC_Report
- FC_InputOutput
- OC_Role
- VC_PrimaryActivity

Is there change to do this, and if yes how to do?

I tried to add "StrategyMap::FC_Process" name stereotype class linked to my metaclass in the Profile diagram, export and import it, but this is not working.

Is it possible to import the StrategyMap MDG and modify this, and how?

Thanks a lot

Thanks for the quick replay and tried to do so, but as soon as create a "metaclass" object based on a Stereotype in the <<profile>> diagram it is automatically placed as "Stereotype" object. And when I follow the instructions above to create an additional stereotype based on the "new" metaclass object, I do not see the new metaclass object. So it's not possible to add / change the stereotype of a StrategyMap.

Or is it the right behavior and for this the new stereotype shall become an extention of the existing stereotype?
Or do I do a mistake somewhere?

I'm confused?!

Maybe you should explain the exact steps you are taking and explain what (you think) is going wrong.
I've done something like this myself in the past, extending existing ArchiMate stereotypes.

OK, here my steps:

I do have a model type "Class" in a package with stereotype "profile".

1. open the model - Toolbox for profile is available
2. choose "Metaclass" from Toolbox
3. select "Stereotypes" in dialog "Extend Metaclass"
4. choose "StrategyMap"
5. select some of the Stereotype objects
6. click on OK

=> all selected object appear as "Stereotype" and not as "Metaclass" objects

Try to go on with "Profile Helpers | Add Stereotype" will fail because the requested object type are neither from type "Element Extension" nor available in "Metaclass Extension" because they are not set as metaclass.

Now I also tried to set the Stereotype manually to "Metaclass" which seems to work, but as soon as I want to export the saved profile I get an error and EA breaks down.

OMG, I didn't see that it should really be Stereotype :: Stereotype, but than the Helper doesn't help or work for that, because you can't choose these Stereotype objects.

But I still have a problem that I can't export the model / package anymore. I always get an error that a line or something is not found and than EA breaks down.

I'll try again...

Maybe I'm to stupid for this, but non of the nice Helpers is really working with this Extension for me. The only and really easy thing I'd like to have within the StrategyMap objects named above is to set another default color and for some of them whish to add addtional tags with a pre-selection of values, but this it not working or to complex to me. For "normal" standard UML objects this is really easy and helpful, but with is MDG extension stuff in use, it's completely oversized and useless. I only whish to have a pre-defined profile imported as a UML Profile and not to create an oversized MDG thing just to adjust the colors, this is ridiculous. Sorry  for saying that, but are there any other useful and easy to handle options to do this? Because I really don't want to do a kind of Master Diploma out of this.
