Error when updating database model from ODBC
« on: December 18, 2019, 09:17:08 pm »
After comparing a database model with the actual model in the database I select Set Import All and click on Import from ODBC.
Then I get a bunch of error messages saying:

---------------------------
Enterprise Architect
---------------------------
The selected action cannot be completed, the column is part of a foreign key relationship.

Please use the Foreign Key property window to first unassign the column.
---------------------------
[ OK ]
---------------------------

The result is that I have a lot FK relations that have lost there FK info (rolenames and name) but otherwise are still there and have to be manually deleted.

Geert - did you get a response or find a solution to this ?

We are experiencing the same result but from an unknown cause. We have a physical model that has been transformed from a logical model and all the relationships are derived correctly from the links between entities.

Then for some unknown reasons, when we look at the physical model diagram with the entities on a few days later, the relationship between some of the entities still exists, but the foreign key constraints have gone ! Also, we are not able to edit the relationship to add the constraints back in, so we have to delete the relation and re-create it.

Very annoying !

Any help would be appreciated.

May be worth a shot exporting everything to *feap file and trying again.  You never know... trusting MS Access is for the brave.

I had the problem on an SQL server repository, so moving to .feap is not likely to help.

No I didn't find a solution, but I haven't seen it recently (we are now on v15.2) so it might have been fixed in one of the later versions.
