Use EA model for basic BI and runtime data?
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:38:59 pm »
Hi.

Is this idea just stupid, or has someone here used similar with success?

I model my production environment (servers, applications, webservices, etc, etc) in EA.
On top of that I plan to add a reporting tool to show production statistics to the management.... Basic statistics such as number of servers, costs, split servercosts to the actual applications on them, etc, etc

I'm thinking of extending that a bit..... by adding runtime data to the model using the api's. One example would be adding a TaggedValue to a Webservice called "NumberOfRequests", that increases by one each time that Webservice is executed in production...

Has anyone tried this?... Or is there some other model for capturing runtime data?

regards
Andreas
