RTF Generation with Relationship Matrix
« on: October 17, 2012, 06:35:05 am »
Hello,

I have used the relationship matrix to generate several DoDAF views.  I used the method in the example of creating a Matrix profile and then placing a hyperlink in a diagram to that profile.

I am trying to generate a report that pulls in these relationship matrices.  I have included the "Relationship Matrix" in the report template (selecting the checkbox in the editor).  And I have also tried pulling in specific attributes, like the Name, but I don't see anything in the report.

How do I incorporate the matrices into a report?

Thanks!  Kimberly

As you described, you can include a matrix in the rtf generator by activating the checkbox. However, if you generate a documentation for a specific package, this package has to be used as source or target in the matrix.

Cheers,

Sorry, I don't understand what that means.

Maybe more context will help.  When I generate the SV-5 I'm generating the matrix to show the system functionality to operational activity.  There isn't a package involved in that matrix.  To generate the documentation, I need to be able to pull the SV-5 out of EA.

How do I pull the matrix into a document?  The only thing I have on the "diagram" is the hyperlink to the matrix (I did this based upon the DoDAF example supplied with the template).  And I don't see an option to follow the hyperlink, the only option seems to be to select the Relationship Matrix in the RTF generator.

Thanks again for your help!  Kimberly

The matrix can be created by the report generator.

For that, it has to be designed into the template with the "template designer". That's, where the checkbox can be found.
I suppose the "template designer" is within the tab "Settings".

My apologies, I don't know where the tab "settings" is located.

I know where Sections can be selected:
Project > Documentation > RTF Report (or F8)
Select my custom template in Use Template:
Then select Edit Template.

In the Template viewer I see Sections on the lefthand side, I put a checkmark next to the Relationship Matrix, under the Package group.  I looked at the tabs under the "Document Options" didn't see a "Settings" option thanks for any clarification!

As you wrote, a relationship matrix is embedded under a package inside the rtf generator. Thus, this package must play a role, as source or target, in the matrix.

When you open the matrix builder you find top left two buttons for selecting source and target.
