Eport and Import to csv
« on: June 09, 2020, 11:45:46 pm »
Hi
I want to have the ability to import and export to excel.
I know about the in built functionality but have doubts about its ability to fulfill my requirements -
I need to be able to export elements and their relationships and the be able to reimport.
It seems that the inbuilt functions do not allow  for relationships (unless I have missed something).

Is the answer to write and addin or a script? Is there another option

Thanks

You're just asking for XMI ex-/import. Putting meshed things in a flat bag will just result in an awkward clutter.

You can write an sql search and then export the results to CSV, or write a script to do the same.

Requirements are a discussion base. If requirements are simply nonsense and you're trying to fulfill them, I can't help...

Hi Graham,

There is another option, which I'm not sure whether you've already investigated or indeed whether it would actually work for you: the Office Integration extension.

"Excel Export allows users to publish Enterprise Architect model contents including elements, connectors, tagged values, attributes and operations, as Excel Workbooks."

Not sure about the import side of things, but it might be worth a look. There's a 30-day trial version available.
