(probably bug) Diagram Frame background Color
« on: September 11, 2020, 06:59:17 pm »
When creating a diagram in 15.2, I do not find any option at all to change the actual diagram frame background color, see image below:

Despite when making the diagram selectable in the toolbar it seems I can change this color, there is no effect on the diagram itself.

Thanks for any help...

UPDATE:

It might be a bug, since clicking on the corresponding functionality in the toolbox, nothing happens, only text color, frame color and frame line width can be changed.

Hi Patrick,

I think you'll find it's NOT a bug.  The other items are external to the frame.  The frame itself has no (conceptual) background, it displays the diagram.  You change the diagram background via the use of tiles.  However, that would be true for all frames "descended" from the diagram.

Is there a way to "override" the inability to set background color by perhaps implementing a derived stereotype or custom scripts?

Hu. I first was thinking this is a boundary. But actually it's a diagram frame. Maybe you can apply a Theme with different coloring to the underlying diagram. Not sure if the frame will inherit that.

Changing the theme also changes both, the color within the diagram frame (color 1) and the paper color (color outside of diagram frame, color 1). The funny behaviour, however: when changing the theme, independent of the actual theme, these two colors always differ, and there is no way to make these two colors identical. This might not be a major issue, but it is slightly confusing that you just cannot set color 1 == color 2...

Anyway, with high contrast white at least color 1 becomes rather similar to white, so I have the feeling I will have to live with this.
